Progress report.

So, how did I do with my goals last week?

1. EAT: Stay under calorie budget 5 out of 7 days.

Success! I will say that the two days I went over budget, I went WAY over budget, but I kept my diet in check the other five days of the week. Consequently, I felt better, and I also weighed in two pounds lighter than the previous week, so that was a great motivation, too.

2. SLEEP: Get at least 5 hours of sleep 5 out of 7 days.

Success! I did get insufficient sleep two of those nights (closer to four hours) but I managed to get myself to bed in time to reach the goal more often than not.

3. MOVE: Exercise at least 225 minutes this week.

I actually exercised 325 minutes this past week, so I would say this is the goal I was most successful at. :-)

4. HEAL: Bring writings about father & discuss with therapist.

I did meet with my therapist and was able to discuss some of the work I’d been doing, including those writings. She stressed, yet again, how important it is for me to create a physical timeline of my life, so I figure that’s the next big project to work on, there.

5. CREATE: Write and post 4 blog entries.

Alas, I wasn’t able to make this goal. I did write and post 3 blog entries, but I wasn’t able to set aside the time for writing I wanted to this past week. I want to spend at least 360 minutes writing each week, and I only spent 320 this past week — and that’s including Morning Pages exercises, which are extremely helpful on a creative level, but don’t do much as far as creating real, publishable work. In fact, I’m sacrificing Morning Pages time today in order to get this blog written and published. It’s difficult to find time to write right now.

6. PLAY: Book Club & GNO with Elle.

I did participate in both of these adventures last week, which means I’ve already experienced at least 2 of the 10 nourishing social adventures I want to experience before June 30th. Book Club was wonderful and fun as always; we discussed The Hunger Games over a delicious Pizza Inn buffet. My friend, Elle, will be heading to New York City next week, and since I am about to leave town for a work conference, I wanted to have the chance to spend some time with her before she left. We went out dancing, which is something I’d been promising to do with her for over two months. We headed to Club XYZ here in Knoxville, had good beer, danced until our feet were sore, took in some awesome drag shows, and had a fabulous time. Needless to say, I think my week was pretty full of fun and nurturing adventures.

In summary, winning 5 out of 6 goals is not a bad place to start. Next week will be a challenge, since I will be out of town for a big hunk of it, and pretty much working nonstop for this conference. I’ve adjusted my goals with that in mind, however, so hopefully I’ll have some successes to report next week, too.
